We supply a wide range of outdoor timber products for the farm, stud farm, home and garden. For the farm, we supply a large range of gates, fencing systems and fencing posts. For the home and garden, check out our range of garden products (including garden furniture), children's play equipment and, of course, timber decking - the latest fashion in creating outdoor living space.
All our products are pressure treated, using Tanalith E. This treatment preserves the wood to make it highly insoluble, thereby giving long-term protection against fungal decay and insect attack, a real alternative to hardwood for outdoor use. By using pressure treated softwoods, you are using a product that is harvested from a managed and sustainable source. This helps prevent the felling of timbers from the rainforests, the lungs of the world. Using pressure treated timber instead of hardwood not only makes economic sense, it helps the environment also. Tanalith E is approved for use by the regulatory authorities in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Timber Entrance and Side Gates
Our timber gates are hand crafted from Scandanavian Redwood, which is kiln dried and planed all over. Our gates are made to a very high standard, mortised, tenoned and dowled and guaranteed to last for 15 years. When all cuts have been made, and before the gate is assembled, all timber components are pressure treated with Tanalith E. This ensures that all cut sections (including internal ones) are fully protected.
All our timber is harvested from well managed forests where the trees are replanted.
Gates are made in standard sizes and can also be custom-made to suit your entrance. All gates are made 4' high as standard, unless stated oterwise - but can be custom made to different hights. All prices are for single gates. Many of the gates pictured have been painted by the customer.

Second Harvest - wood mulch
We have installed a wood chipping/shredding plant that shreds waste timber. As part of this process, colour is added to produce the highly visual coloured wood mulch using the latest technology in mulch colourants - Mulch Magic® produced by Colorbiotics, a division of Becker Underwood Ltd.
The Mulch Magic® range of colours has been developed to produce high quality coloured mulch using the latest colour and formulation technologies. The colourants have been tested fully for environmental impact and have gained the Certified Mulch and Soil seal of approval; they have been tested and are proven safe to humans and animals.
Dermot O'Neill, gardening expert on RTE Radio and Television has this to say: "This Second Harvest Irish Wood Mulch looks fantastic in the garden and at the same time it's so practical, helping to cut down on weeds and preserve valuable moisture in the soil. It will make a big difference to the quality of your garden"
All the timber used to produce our SECOND HARVEST comes from recycled pallets and packaging that would otherwise be destined for landfill.

Why Mulch?
Using high quality recycled mulch offers an easy cost effective way to cover bare soil in and around plants in the garden and other landscape areas. By adding mulch as ground cover there are several key benefits to both the appearance and quality of the planting schemes and garden borders.
Great Visual Appearance
- Choose from Red, Brown or Dark Walnut colours to add to the appearance of your plants. The mulch colour can be chosen to show off the plants.
- Because of the hard wearing characteristics of recycled wood mulch, it is a great option as a visually attractive path covering.
Weed Suppression
- A covering of bare soil helps to prevent undesirable weed growth in the borders. As well as reducing the need for hand weeding, this will help your plants to grow as they will not be competing for water and soil nutrients.
Great Visual Appearance
- For a more permenant solution recycled wood mulch can be used in conjunction with textile weed barriers.
Water Conservation and other Plant Benefits
- A good covering of bare soil areas with mulch will significantly reduce the amount of water evaporation. The recycled wood mulch will also prevent the capping of the soil surface ensuring that rainfall or irrigation water will percolate slowly into the soil.
The high quality colour used on our recycled wood mulch gives a superior strong and brilliant colour that lasts 2 to 5 times longer than traditional bark mulch.

Hints & Tips:
- Forward planning is the most important. Be clear in your mind what you want to do, taking into account your site and situation.
- Decide what functions your deck will have i.e. extended living space, children's play area, dining area so to ensure that your deck will be versatile enough to accommodate all your needs.
- Measure the proposed area to be decked.
- Call Hoeys Timber sales on 042~9372380 with your measurements for a free quotation or to clarify any queries you may have.
Maintaining your Deck
Timber is a natural product and as such, will require some maintenance. The timber used is pressure treated with Tanalith E. This treatment means that you may stain you deck any colour you choose or alternatively, leave it to age naturally to a silvery-grey.
In order to ensure long life, it is advisable to use a deck cleaner before you apply any decking stains. This will remove algae and dirt, revive the colour and refresh the surface of your deck. Be sure to apply a water repellent treatment every twelve months to maintain your deck's protective barrier. |
